I was trying too hard to have an idea. Then a wobbly wheel reminded me that creativity starts when you get out of your head and notice what’s in front of you.

I once gave someone feedback that seemed to catch her off guard. I told her she should embrace her humor more at work. She was funny in a way that was actually useful. Not forced. Not performative. Not the kind of person trying to turn every meeting into open mic night.

Many of you are well familiar with my love for Old Forester bourbon. If you’ve heard any of my music, you know that Kentucky is always a huge theme, both lyrically and musically. My mom’s family is from Eastern Kentucky, the real coal mining part of Kentucky.
